In February, 2008, BJ Bernstein will speak at the ICLE Legal Conference in Puerto Rico on "Genarlow Wilson's Legal Odyssey." In February, 2008, BJ Bernstein will speak at Spellman College, Atlanta, Georgia on criminal justice issues. On February, 29, 2008, BJ Bernstein will speak at an ICLE Seminar on Appellate Advocacy Issues. On January 12, 2008, BJ Bernstein joined a panel discussion in Dekalb County, Georgia for a Youth Action Forum sponsored by Georgia State Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benefield. In January 2008, BJ Bernstein appears at the Southeast Region National Black Law Student Association meeting in Columbia, South Carolina as the key note luncheon speaker. In October, 2006 the Atlanta Journal Constitution published an op/ed piece by B.J. Bernstein addressing the problem of Child Prostitution in Atlanta. B.J. Bernstein moderated a panel on the “The Changing Politics of Foreign Assistance” at the CARE National Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC on June 7, 2006. In April 2006 B.J. Bernstein spoke on the provisions of Georgia’s New Sex Offender Registry to the Georgia Association Criminal Defense Lawyers. B.J. Bernstein was the inaugural keynote speaker at
the Georgia Law Women of Distinction Series for the University of Georgia
School of Law on February 28, 2006. B.J. Bernstein served as a panelist for a symposium at the University of Georgia School of Law titled, “Taking Your Case to the Court of Public Opinion-Strategic, Legal and Ethical Implications.” The program, on November 4, 2005, focused on the ethics and issues connected to legal commentary on television. On May 19, 2006, B.J. addressed the 2006 Virginia Defender Summit regarding her experiences representing Marcus Dixon and and handling charges of sexual offenses for teens. These two cases involve the serious criminal ramifications of consensual juvenile sex. B.J. Bernstein spoke in Berlin, Germany in February 2006 at the Jewish Women’s Network on a program entitled "Answers of Jewish Women to Modernity." B.J. focused on the relationship and balance of religion, gender and her work. B.J. Bernstein served as Moderator and panelist for a Continuing Legal Education program sponsored by the National Association of Women Lawyers entitled “It’s Not What You Learned in Law School” for the 2005 Taking Charge of Your Career (April, 2005).
